Indirect costs are costs that are fully attributable to a specific cost object and they can’t therefore fully absorbed by one cost object. They can be both fixed and variable costs. For example, if you produce product A, B and and you pay a fixed amount of accounting fees for your business, then this is an indirect fixed cost. If your accounting fees was calculated based on the total turnover for the year (a contingent fee), then it would be a variable indirect cost.
