The dividends per share ratio can be calculated using a very straightforward ratio. First of all, you will need to find how many ordinary shares a company has. You can find it in the balance sheet (share capital). Then, you will need the dividends paid during the year. You can find it either in the notes (reconciliation of shareholders funds) or in the cash flow under the financing activities (dividends paid).
Then, the dividend per share can be calculated as follows:
Dividend per share= Dividends Paid/Number of shares outstanding.
