To be more precise, there was no Arthur Andersen Scandal. The scandal was for Enron and Arthur Andersen was the auditor. Enron overstated their revenues by around $100bn. Arthur Andersen was found as having done a really poor job, finding the fraud and communicating them to the audit committee. In addition, Arthur Andersen was also accused of shredding documents that related to this audit. The engagement partner (the partner that was signing the accounts for Enron) was convicted and as a result Arthur Andersen agreed to surrender their practice license.
It was later found that Arthur Andersen had other really poor quality audits such as the WorldCom who went bankrupt (one of the biggest bankruptcy cases in the US).
