Yes, the retained earnings are included in the owners equity together with the capital (paid in capital) and the other reserves. The owners equity is simply the balancing figure if you deduct your total liabilities from your total assets and it reflects that funds available to the company.
This includes the initial capital contribution, the undistributed profits and any other reserves (such as the revaluation reserve for example).
